TAGUIG CITY, Philippines — The Philippine Healthcare Information Management Services (HIMS) industry is poised for sustained growth after generating $4.2 billion in direct revenue last year, with projections pointing to a 15% year-on-year increase through 2026, according to Julian Valenzuela, HIMAP Board Trustee and Co-Chair of HIMSCON 2025.
Speaking during the HIMAP Press Conference held at Shangri-La The Fort in Bonifacio Global City last October 20, Valenzuela said the country’s healthcare outsourcing sector remains the fastest-growing vertical within the IT-BPM ecosystem — a testament to the Philippines’ strong foundation in healthcare and clinical expertise.
“The Philippines is known globally for its healthcare capabilities. Within the broader outsourcing space, healthcare information management continues to lead in both revenue and headcount,” Valenzuela said. “Our industry remains resilient, with global demand accelerating across multiple markets.”
Roughly 75% of the country’s HIMS business still comes from North America, but HIMAP has started to diversify into Western Europe, the Middle East, and Australia-New Zealand — regions with growing needs for healthcare IT and data management services.
“Europe is the world’s second-largest healthcare IT spender, and both the Middle East and ANZ share similar revenue cycle structures with the U.S.,” Valenzuela added. “By expanding into these markets, we’re ensuring long-term stability and opportunity for Filipino talent.”
Human Expertise Meets AI
Valenzuela noted that the Philippines’ unique selling proposition lies in its ability to combine technology with empathy— a defining feature of Filipino healthcare workers.
“We’re no longer just call center agents; we are care providers empowered by technology,” he said. “AI is not a threat — it’s a tool to elevate our work. We’re merging automation with human oversight to make healthcare smarter and more compassionate.”
HIMAP President Vincent Remo echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the sector’s collaboration with TESDA, DTI, and DICT to strengthen workforce readiness through training programs and talent roadshows nationwide.
“Our goal is to ensure that every Filipino who wants to enter this field has access to the skills and resources needed to succeed,” Remo said.
Meanwhile, HIMAP Chairperson Ma. Cristina “Beng” Coronel highlighted the sector’s growing inclusivity and stability.
“A career in HIMS offers not only financial growth but purpose. You can gain global exposure while working close to home — serving patients abroad without leaving the Philippines,” Coronel said.
Themed “Sustaining Growth Beyond Disruptions,” HIMSCON 2025 gathered key industry leaders, government partners, and investors to chart the next phase of the Philippines’ role as a global hub for healthcare information management.
